Rita J. Nevel, age 85, of Bloomsburg, died on Wednesday, October 12, 2016, in Geisinger Bloomsburg Hospital. Rita was a resident of Bloomsburg for over 68 years.
Rita was born on Friday, August 28, 1931 in Sweet Valley, a daughter of the late Lohman and Susan (Birth) Hawk. Rita attended and later graduated from the Shichshinny High School in 1948.
For over 30 years, Rita was employed by Hotel Magee as a Waitress until her retirement. She was a member and active volunteer of the Trinity Reformed United Church of Christ, Bloomsburg. Rita enjoyed spending her time gardening, cooking & baking, and bird watching.
In addition to her parents, Rita was also preceded by her first husband, Paul Herbert Fisher in 1964.
Survivors include her husband, Paul S. Nevel of Bloomsburg, PA: daughters, Linda K. McGettigan and husband, James, Sr., of Bloomsburg and Paula S. Caflisch and husband, Perry, of Orangeville PA; grandchildren Fisher McGettigan, James McGettigan, Jr., and Leah Caflisch; sisters: Catharine Hawk and Jean Stacey both of Sweet Valley, PA.
Graveside Services will begin on Wednesday, October 19, at 11:00 am in New Rosemont Cemetery with her pastor, Rev. Steven Hummel, officiating. The Allen Funeral Home, Inc., is
honored to be serving the Nevel family.
