Richard H. "Rich" Hummel, age 86, of Bloomsburg, passed away on Sunday evening, May 18, 2025, a patient of the Geisinger Medical Center, Danville. He was a resident of his home in Scott Township for over 14 years.

Rich was born on Wednesday, March 15, 1939, in Bloomsburg, a son of the late Earl and Carrie (Krap) Hummel. He graduated from the Bloomsburg High School in 1957. On June 29, 1963, Rich married his loving wife, the former Kay Wintersteen. For several years, he was employed by Deka Batteries, Lions Station as a laborer until his retirement in 2004. Rich was a member of the Glad Tidings Assembly of God, Bloomsburg. When he attended his previous churches he served as a deacon, Sunday School Teacher, played Jesus and wrote plays. Rich loved being in nature, working in the backyard, going on picnics, and most of all practicing his faith. He was like a father to his grandson, BJ.

In addition to his parents, Rich was also preceded in death by a brother-in-law: Wilbur Kelley.

Survivors include his beloved wife of 62 years: Kay Hummel of Bloomsburg; two daughters, Cheryl Snyder and husband Randall of Danville, Sherry Hummel of Bloomsburg; two grandchildren: Whitney Riegel and husband Job of Fleetwood, Barry "BJ" Mahoney, Jr. of Bloomsburg; two great grandchildren: Lea and Mason; and sister, Phyllis Kelley of Danville.

A time of Visitation for family and friends will be held on Friday, May 23, 2025, from 10:00 am to 11:00 am at the Glad Tidings Assembly of God, 706 Central Road, Bloomsburg.

Funeral Services will begin on Friday, May 23, 2025, at 11:00 am at the Glad Tidings Assembly of God with Rev. John Kolenda, officiating.
