Richard A. Hammer, age 76, of East 12 St., Bloomsburg, died on Thursday, February 16, in the Geisinger Medical Center, Danville. He was a resident of his 12th St. home for over 10 years. Richard was born on Friday, July 26, 1935 in Toledo, Ohio a son of the late Robert and Racheal (Marlett) Hammer.
As a Master Electrician, Richard was employed by Raytheon and the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers Union Local #8 of Lima Ohio. He had worked at installing the power supply lines for the Alaska Pipeline.
Richard was an avid outdoorsman. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and trapping. He participated in numerous fishing tournaments, particularly in Michigan. He was a member of the Columbia County Democratic Committee and Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie #4255 of Scottsboro AL.
Richard's passing ends a marriage of 25 years to Lois Honabach Hammer to whom he was married December 13, 1986. Additional survivors include four children: Laura Hammer of Toledo, Lisa Koster and husband, Chris, of Clifton, MI, Richard Hammer and wife, Tammy, of Millbury OH and Michelle Hammer of Toledo; 8 grandchildren: Amanda, Mykyla, Christopher, Connor, Chelsea, Brianna, Dylan and Jacob; a god-son: Michael Morris of FL; three step-children: Cindy Stephens of Bloomsburg, Chris Baumer and wife, Melissa, of Berwick and Robert Baumer of Bloomsburg and three siblings: Ruthann Boschard of FL, Rita Lowe and husband, James, of MI and Robert Hammer and wife, Barbara, of Michigan.
