Richard B. "Dick" Haupt, age 75, of Bloomsburg, passed away on Tuesday, March 24, 2020, at his home two days before his 76th birthday. He was surrounded by his loving family and under the care of Geisinger Hospice. Richard was a resident of his home in Main Twp. for over 44 years.
He was born on Sunday, March 26, 1944 in Shamokin, a son of the late William C. and Dorothy E. (Rebuck) Haupt. Dick graduated from the Trevorton High School in 1962. Dick expanded his education by attending Shippensburg University, and graduated with a Master's Degree.
On August 14, 1971, Richard married his loving wife, the former Mary E. Haddock. For over 32 years, he was employed by Bloomsburg University as a faculty member until his retirement on June 30, 1999. He was a member of the St. Luke Lutheran Church, Bloomsburg.
Survivors include his beloved wife of 48 years, Mary E. Haupt; two daughters, Dawn M. wife of David Renner of Pottstown and Allison L. Haupt of Danville, four grandchildren: Sydney Renner, Kelsey Renner, Ian Haupt, and Skylar Haupt.
Memorial services will be held on Friday, June 26, at 10:00 AM from St. Luke Lutheran Church, 7 St. Luke Way, Bloomsburg, with his pastor, Rev. Kerry P. Maurer, officiating. Graveside committal services will be held in Northumberland Memorial Park. Due to recent events and CDC guidelines, the church sanctuary access will be limited to immediate family. All others will have the service broadcast to their vehicles in the church parking lot. The Allen Funeral Home, Inc., 745 Market at Eighth streets, Bloomsburg is honored to be serving the Haupt family.
