Richard M. "Dick" Bowman, age 81, of 3rd Street in Espy, Bloomsburg, died suddenly on Thursday, September 30, 2010 in the Bloomsburg Hospital ER after being stricken at the Bloomsburg Fair.
Dick was born on Thursday, June 27, 1929 in Orangeville, a son of the late Millard M. and Ida Crawford Bowman. He was a member of the 1948 Graduating Class of the former Scott Township High School. For over 45 years, he was employed by Wise Potato Chip in Berwick until his retirement. Dick was also the Owner and Operator of the Bowman French Fries stand at the Bloomsburg Fair and numerous other fairs throughout the area.
He was a member of the Espy Fire Company #1, the Washington Lodge #265 F&AM, the Caldwell Consistory, the Bloomsburg Elks #623 BPOE, and a former member of the Bloomsburg Moose.
Dick was preceded in death by a sister, Patti Remley in 2003.
Surviving is his beloved wife of 62 years, Nancy Spiegel, married on December 19, 1947; two daughters: Becky Hess and her husband, Thomas, of Bloomsburg, and Sharon Seesholtz of Bloomsburg; four grandchildren: Kirk Seeshooltz and his wife, Kara; Dr. Lance Seesholtz and his wife, Nikki; Brady Hess and his wife, Tammy; and Shelly Hauer and her companion, William Thomas; and six great-grandchildren: Ky, Koy, Eli and Evan Seesholtz, Logan Hess and Brodey Hauer.
Friends and family will be received on Monday, October 4 from 6 to 8 p.m. from the Allen Funeral Home, 745 Market at Eighth Street in Bloomsburg.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, October 5 at 10 a.m. from the funeral home with Rev. John W. Davies, of St. Paul's United Church of Christ in Kutztown, officiating. Graveside services will be held in Laurel Hill Cemetery.
