Richard John Dewalt, age 68, of Merrillville, Indiana died on Saturday, December 14, 2019, at his home.
Rick was born on Sunday, July 29, 1951 in Danville, a son of the late John Earl and Marion A. (Luberercki) Dewalt. Rick graduated from Central Columbia High School in 1969. He faithfully served with the U.S. Navy for 4 years during the Vietnam War and was honorably discharged in 1975. For over 22 years, Rick was employed by Carribean Pools & Spa, Merrillville, IN as a Sales Manager until his retirement in 2018. Rick loved the city of Chicago and loved taking everyone to see the city. In his younger years he was a roller skating coach and instructor. Rick loved to socialize, he would strike up a conversation with anyone. He battled cancer for several years but always kept a positive attitude right up to the end.
Survivors include his three siblings, a sister, Bonnie Karnes of Milton, two brothers, Keith Dewalt of Bloomsburg, and brother, Jeffrey Dewalt and wife Darlene of Bloomsburg, four nieces, Kim Muscara, Stephanie Moralez, Breanna Wenner, Alissa Tobias, three nephews, Corey Muscara, Joseph Moralez, Jonathan Moralez, and several great nieces and nephews.
Graveside services will be held privately in Elan Memorial Park, Lime Ridge with Rev. Michael Delp, officiating. The Allen Funeral Home, Inc., 745 Market at Eighth Streets, Bloomsburg is honored to be serving the Dewalt family.
