Raymond R. Harner, age 50, of Danville, died unexpectedly at his home on Monday, July 13, 2015. He was a resident of his Valley Township home for twenty years.
Ray was born on Wednesday, May 11, 1965 a son of the late Marlin L. Harner and Beryl (Dawson) Frey of Bloomsburg. Following graduation from Columbia Montour Vocational-Technical School in 1983, Ray honorably served his country for twelve years in the United States Navy; most notably during the Gulf War.
As a self employed electrician, he was involved in many local construction projects. He was known for his playing the bass in the band "Alive and Well" which played at many local events and carnivals. He was a member of Ft. McClure Post #804 VFW and Catawissa Legion Post#541.
In addition to his mother, Beryl E. Frey and step-father, Jerry O. Frey, Ray is survived by his long-time companion: Debra (Steimling) Hutchinson; two sons: Ray Harner and Jerry Harner, both of Danville; two grandchildren: Xander J Harner and Jennifer R. Harner; and a brother: Gregory S. Harner of Albany, MO.
In addition to his father, Marlin L. Harner who died in 1996, he was preceded in death by a sister: Jennifer Lea (Harner) Millar in 1997.
Beginning at 11 a.m. on Saturday, July 18, Friends are welcomed to gather at his home at 120 Hendrickson Rd. Danville for time to share and reflect. The Allen Funeral Home, Inc. 745 Market at Eighth Street in Bloomsburg is honored to be serving the Harner, Frey and Hutchinson families.
