Raymond E. Girton, age 88, of Catawissa, passed away on Sunday afternoon, May 2, 2021, a patient of the Geisinger Medical Center in Danville.

Raymond was born on Sunday, February 5, 1933 in Bloomsburg, a son of the late Ralph A. and Ida Belle (Faux) Girton. He grew up in Bloomsburg, surviving polio as a child and graduating from Bloomsburg High School in 1951. On June 20, 1959, Raymond married his loving wife the former, Joyce M. Levan. After working for Columbia Silk Mill and Danville State Hospital, he started Girton Washer Service which he ran for 50 years. He valued being an entrepreneur and encouraged his children to pursue their business dreams.

His family takes comfort in knowing Raymond left to meet his Lord and Savior. Raymond was very involved as a Deacon in his church, the Bloomsburg Restoration branch of RLDS. He enjoyed making friends from all over the country at church camp with his family. He adored his grandchildren and recorded their recitals so he could listen again and again, because he loved music. He also had a soft spot for a few silly kid's rhymes. He enjoyed hunting and, after saving himself from a rabid raccoon, is well known as a good shot.

In addition to his parents, Raymond was also preceded in death by a daughter, Sheila R. Labate and a son, Rodney R. Girton.

Raymond had a large family who loved him, survivors include his beloved wife of 61 years, Joyce M.Girton, three sons: Gary G. Girton and wife, Mary, of Bloomsburg, Douglas A. Girton of Orion, MI and Edward C. Girton of Pottstown, PA, ten grandchildren, nine great grandchildren, a sister, Shirley J. Adams of Danville and a son-in-law, John Labate.

A time of visitation for family and friends will be held on Monday, May 10, 2021 from 10:00 am to 11:00 am at the Allen Funeral Home, 745 Market at Eighth St., Bloomsburg.

Funeral services will begin on Monday, May 10, 2021 at 11:00 am at the Allen Funeral Home, Inc. with Rev. Michael Spagnuolo, pastor of Catawissa Christian Church, officiating. The Allen Funeral Home, Inc., is honored to be serving the Girton family.
