Obituary

Raymond O. Baylor, 88, of Catawissa, passed away Saturday, August 22, 2026, peacefully at his home, surrounded by his loving family.

Born October 2, 1937, Raymond was a son of the late Glen and Phoebe “Mae” Baylor. His childhood was spent on his family’s farm, and he was a 1955 graduate of Beaver Township High School, where he enjoyed playing football and basketball and was a member of the FFA. Following high school, Raymond enlisted and proudly served his country in the U.S. Army.

On December 5, 1959, Raymond wed the former Patricia A. Wohlforth. Together they shared nearly 59 years of marriage before her passing on November 16, 2018.

Raymond worked for McGee Carpet, retiring in 2004, after 44 years of service. He was a member of Calvary Baptist Church and enjoyed participating in events hosted by the Catawissa Senior Center.

Raymond spent over a decade coaching Catawissa Little League and the Southern Columbia All Star Team. He was also involved with the Tri-County Baseball League and continued playing softball well into his 60’s. Raymond was a lifelong Dodgers fan and a faithful Ravens football fan. He especially enjoyed the time spent with his family at gatherings and celebrations. Raymond loved the outdoors and was an avid hunter and fisherman. He was also an accomplished gardener who took great pride in maintaining his garden and orchard. He enjoyed canning and making homemade cider, sharing the fruits of his work with family and friends.

Raymond will be deeply missed by his sons: Timothy J. Baylor of Loganton, Brian A. Baylor and wife, Robin, of Mainville, Raymond G. Baylor of Catawissa, and Mark G. Baylor and wife, Cindy, of Catawissa; his daughters: Brenda L. Fink and husband, Ed, of Harrisburg, and Darla G. Farr of Danville; his beloved grandchildren; Madison Taffurelli and husband, Robbie, Lauren Bond and husband, Matthew, Beth Baylor, Gavin Farr, Will Farr, Isabelle Baylor, Makayla Baylor, and Noah Baylor; two great-grandchildren: Benjamin E. Taffurelli, and Bruce E. Bond; his brother, Eugene “Pete” Baylor, his dear friend and companion, Barbara “Maxine” McCaffrey; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents and late wife, Patricia, Raymond was preceded in death by his daughter, Julie A. Baylor, his son-in-law, Mike Farr, and siblings: Jean Busch, Mary Jane Mott, Clyde Baylor, Robert Baylor, and William Savage.

A memorial service for Raymond will be held on Tuesday, September 8, 2026 at 11 am at the Allen Funeral Home, 745 Market St. Bloomsburg, with Pastor Mike Wynn of Grace Bible Church officiating. Friends and family will be received from 10 am until the time of service. Interment will immediately follow at Elan Memorial Park, Bloomsburg. The Allen Funeral Home, Bloomsburg, is honored to be serving the Baylor family.
