Ray T. Hock, Jr., age 77, of Beaufort, SC passed away on Tuesday, March 12, 2024, a patient of the Medical University of South Carolina in Charleston, following a bicycle accident. Ray was a resident of his home in Beaufort for one year and was formerly of Bloomsburg.
He was born on Saturday, February 1, 1947 in Bloomsburg, a son of the late Ray T. and Audrey Jane (Honse) Hock, Sr. He graduated from Central Columbia High School in 1965. He expanded his education by attending Bloomsburg University and graduated with a master's degree. On March 14, 1980, Ray married his loving wife, the former Lori D. Nevil. For over 26 years, Ray was employed by PP&L as a Physicist until his retirement on August 1, 2008. He previously was a teacher for 13 years at the Central Columbia High School.
After retirement he attended Southern Baptist Theological Seminary where he worked on his Masters of Divinity. He was a member of Cross Community Church in Beaufort, SC for the past year. Prior to that he was an elder at First Baptist Church of Cedar Key, FL, for three years and then he was an active member at Clifton Baptist Church in Louisville, KY. He deeply loved the Lord Jesus, his family, and the church family. He enjoyed studying God's Word and used it faithfully to counsel and disciple others. Ray rode his bike daily with their labrador and used his God given artistic gifts to paint, draw and carve beautiful artwork in his spare time.
Survivors include his beloved wife of 44 years: Lori D. Hock of Beaufort, three daughters: Kimberly Smith and husband Scott of Beaufort, Rachel Moskovich and husband Mark of Simpsonville, KY, Natalie Buchhalter and husband John of Cumming, GA, 11 grandchildren: Isaac Moskovich, Samuel Moskovich, Jonathan Moskovich, Jeremiah Moskovich, Audrey Buchhalter, Lydia Buchhalter, Ian Buchhalter, Laurel Buchhalter, Micah Smith, Ethan Smith, and Asher Smith and his brother, Dana Hock and wife Nancy of Bloomsburg.
A time of Visitation for family and friends will be held on Thursday, March 21, 2024 from 10:00 am to 11:00 am at the Catawissa Christian Church, 319 Main St., Catawissa.
Funeral Services will begin on Thursday, March 21, 2024 at 11:00 am at the Catawissa Christian Church with Rev. Michael Spagnuolo, officiating. Graveside committal services will immediately follow at Elan Memorial Park, Bloomsburg. The Allen Funeral Home, Inc.745 Market at Eighth Street, Bloomsburg is honored to be serving the Hock family.
