Rachel (Ernest) Peifer, age 85, of Bloomsburg, passed away on Saturday, January 18, 2020, a resident of the Sunset Ridge Healthcare Center in Bloomsburg. Rachel was a resident of her home in South Centre Twp. for over 30 years.
She was born on Saturday, June 30, 1934 in Cleveland Twp., a daughter of the late Harvey W. and Ivy S. (Getty) Ernest. She attended the Reeds School, a one-room schoolhouse in Cleveland Twp. and served on the reunion committee.
On February 14, 1976, Rachel married her loving husband, Paul M. Peifer, Sr. Rachel was employed as a seamstress in the garment industry for 42 years working for Regal, Emenee, and Milco Industries. In the 1960's, she was also a top sales representative for Tupperware. Rachel was a member of the Good Shepherd United Methodist Church, Bloomsburg. She enjoyed gardening, cooking, baking, camping, country music, reading, and crocheting. She designed and created wedding and prom gowns, doll clothes and clothing for her daughters. In the 1970's, Rachel served as a Brownie and Girl Scout Leader.
In addition to her parents, Rachel was also preceded in death by a sister, Sarah Campbell and a brother, LLoyd Ernest.
Survivors include her beloved husband of 43 years, Paul M. Peifer, Sr., four children, Glenda (Ernest) wife of Russel Zimmerman, Tina (Coladonato) wife of Stanley Wisniewski, II, Rose (Coladonato) wife of Chris Hunsinger, Beth Coladonato, 4 grandchildren, Stanley Wisniewski, III and wife Shareen, Zachary Zimmerman and companion Tiffany Montoro, Daniel Wisniewski and wife Abbyrae, Benjamin Zimmerman, five step children, Karen wife of Robert Carl, Kenneth Peifer, Keith Peifer and wife Karen, Paul Peifer, Jr. and wife Linda, Darryl Peifer, several step grandchildren and many beloved nieces and nephews.
A time of Visitation for family and friends will be held on Friday, January 24, 2020 from 10:00 am to 11:00 am at the Allen Funeral Home, Inc., 745 Market at Eighth Streets, Bloomsburg.
Funeral Services will begin on Friday, January 24, 2020 at 11:00 am at the Allen Funeral Home, Inc. with Rev. Audrey M. Brosious, officiating. Graveside committal services will immediately follow in the Esther Furnace Cemetery, Catawissa. The Allen Funeral Home, Inc., is honored to be serving the Peifer family.
