R. Clair "Sonny" Hendricks, Jr., age 71, formerly of East Eighth Street, Bloomsburg, died Thursday morning, June 16, at the home of his son in Catawissa. Clair was born on Tuesday, April 18, 1939 in Numidia, the son of the late Raymond C. and Dorothy (Lutz) Hendricks, Sr. Clair graduated from the former Roaring Creek Valley High School in Numidia. Until his retirement in 1994, Clair was a Sergeant with the Bloomsburg Police Department for over 23 years. He was most currently employed by the Columbia County Area Agency on Aging and in the museum at the Knobels Grove Amusement Park. He was a member of the Fraternal Order of Police. Surviving are the following descendents: two sons: William C. "Bill" Hendricks and his wife, Sherrie, of Numidia, and Dale W. Hendricks and his wife, Lynanne, of Catawissa; seven grandchildren: William, R. Hendricks of Millville, Dusty Hendricks of Numidia, Stephanie Hendricks and her companion, Justin Belz, of Numidia, Shayla Hendricks of Catawissa, Tyler Hendricks of Catawissa, Sheena Micklo, and her husband, John, of Catawissa, and Kyle Hoffman of Orangeville. At the request of the deceased, there will be no public services. The Allen Funeral Home of 745 Market Street in Bloomsburg is assisting the Hendricks family.
