Philomay A. Ciampi , age 95, of Bloomsburg, died on Thursday, April 13, 2017, a patient of the Emanuel Center for Nursing and Rehabilitation, Danville.
Philomay was born on Thursday, January 26, 1922 in Berwick, a daughter of the late James and Angela (Cerbara) Volpicelli. Throughout her younger years, Philomay attended the Berwick and Nanticoke schools . On April 30, 1951, Philomay married her loving husband, Frank T. Ciampi. With her husband, Philomay Co owned and operated Ciampi Beer Distributorship of Bloomsburg. She was a faithful and life long member of the St. Columba Catholic Church, where she was a member of the church choir and also a member of the Catholic Daughters. For over 15 years, delivered Meals on Wheels with her husband. She enjoyed spending her time playing Mrs. Santa for church and community activities, was an avid gardener, she was known for growing roses, and was well known for her Italian Cooking.
In addition to her parents and husband, Philomay was preceded in death by several siblings: Peter Volpicelli, Rose Volpicelli, Lucy Volpicelli, Benjamin Volpicelli, Anthony Volpicelli. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family.
Survivors include two daughters: Angela Solenberger (Edwin) and Grace Penman (John) both of Bloomsburg; two granddaughters: Janine Penman and Christine Gennaria (Matthew) both of Bloomsburg; and a great granddaughter: Arianna Gennaria.
A time of Visitation for family and friends will be held on Wednesday, April 19, 2017 from 10:00 am to 11:00 am at the St. Columba Catholic Church, Third and Iron Streets, Bloomsburg.
Funeral Services will begin on Wednesday, at 11:00 am at the St. Columba Catholic Church with Monsignor Robert E. Lawrence, celebrant. Graveside committal services will immediately follow in the New Rosemont Cemetery, Espy. The Allen Funeral Home, Inc., is honored to be serving the Ciampi family.
