Peter P. Klemick, age 74, of Bloomsburg, died on Tuesday morning, May 19, 2015 a patient of the Geisinger Medical Center in Danville. Peter had been battling health challenges over the past three years
Peter was born on Tuesday, February 25, 1941 in Shamokin, a son of the late John and Violet (Petro) Klemick. Peter completed his education in 1959 after graduating from Shamokin Our Lady of Lourdes School. Immediately following his education, Peter enlisted in the United States Air Force where he served his country faithfully until his time of honorable discharge. On June 14, 1969, Peter married his wife the former Betty Shirk, of Mifflinburg. They made their home in the Town of Bloomsburg for the past 43 years. For over 30 years, Peter was employed by the former Bell Telephone Company as a switchman until his retirement in 2000. He was a member of the St. Columba Catholic Parish in Bloomsburg.
In addition to his parents, Peter was also preceded in death by four siblings: John "Jack" Klemick, George Klemick, Pauline Bakowicz, and Gretchen Klemick.
Surviving is his wife of 45 years, Betty (Shirk) Klemick, of Bloomsburg; two children: Elizabeth Brannan and husband, Paul, of Alexandria, VA; and Philip Klemick and wife, Faith, of Mechanicsburg; three grandchildren: Luke Brannan, Ryan Klemick and Audrey Klemick; and also by a sister: Elizabeth Richardson of Shamokin.
A Mass of Christian burial will be held on Friday morning, May 22 at 10 a.m. at the St. Columba Catholic Church, 342 Iron and Third Street in Bloomsburg with Monsignor Robert E. Lawrence, celebrant. Graveside committal services, with full Military honor to be accorded by a combined VFW/American Legion Group will immediately follow in the New Rosemont Cemetery, Espy.
