Obituary

Paul W. Chapman, age 70, of Bloomsburg, passed away on Friday, May 17, 2024, at his home in Catawissa township surrounded by his family. He fought cancer with great courage and grace.

Paul was born on Thursday, December 3, 1953 in Corpus Christi, TX, a son of the late Billy and Rosie (Speer) Chapman. He graduated from Stephenville High School in Stephenville, TX. On June 30, 1979, he married his loving wife the former Sandra H. Southworth. For over 24 years he honorably served his country in the USMC as an Aviation Maintenance Officer 12 years enlisted and 12 years as an officer until his retirement on September 1, 1997. Paul expanded his education by attending Liberty University, Lynchburg, VA, and graduated in 2008 with a master's degree in Pastoral counseling.

Later in life he was a substitute teacher at Southern Columbia and loved working with the Middle School and High School students. They loved "Mr. C" as well. Paul was a member of the NRA and the American Legion Post #273, Bloomsburg. Paul had a wonderful life traveling all over the world for the military and doing mission trips with Sandy with both adults and their youth group from church. His greatest joys were the people who called him Papa/Pepa. He loved sports and often coached his children and grandchildren. He also umpired little league baseball.
