Patricia Ann Emanuel , age 60, of Bloomsburg, died unexpectedly on Monday, October 9, 2017 in Istanbul, Turkey of natural causes. Patricia was a resident of her home in Bloomsburg for over 28 years.
Patricia was born on March 18, 1957, in Bloomsburg, a daughter of the late George W. and Katherine "Kay" (Wolchanski) Campbell.
Throughout her younger years, Patricia attended the Southern Columbia area schools, and later graduated from the Bloomsburg High School in 1975. Patricia expanded her education by attending Bloomsburg University and graduated with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Art Education and a Master's Degree in Elementary Education. She was certified to teach English as a second language.
Patty was a member of the Columbia County Democratic Committee.
Patty was just beginning her second year of teaching English as a foreign language in elementary grades in Istanbul. She enjoyed and appreciated the history, beauty and the people of Turkey and was fulfilled by her experiences working with children who were absorbing a new language. Patty was a talented artist and a genuine "people person" who was known and loved for her bright smile, quick wit, joy of life and tireless advocacy for causes.
On February 14, 1989, Patty married her loving husband, L. David Emanuel who survives.
Survivors, in addition to her husband, are two children: Emma Jean Emanuel of Ocean City, MD, and Eric David Emanuel and companion, Jaymi Boudman, of Bloomsburg; granddaughter: Addison Emanuel; siblings: E. Dianne Campbell of Muncy, Lisa K. Campbell of Palmyra, VA, and G. Randy Campbell and wife, Sheryl, of Ocean View, DE.
A time of Visitation for family and friends will be held on Friday, October 20, 2017 from 5:00 to 7:00 pm at the Allen Funeral Home, Inc., 745 Market at Eighth St., Bloomsburg.
Funeral Services will begin on Saturday, October 21, 2017 at 10:00 am at the funeral home with Rev. Dr. Gary E. Weaver, pastor of Wesley United Methodist Church, officiating. Graveside committal services will immediately follow in Roselawn Cemetery. The Allen Funeral Home, Inc., is honored to be serving the Emanuel family.
