Obituary

Olwen V. (Ruch) Adler, age 100, of Moscow, died on Wednesday morning, September 3, 2014 a resident of Balanced Care at Bloomsburg for the past seven years.
Olwen was born on Thursday, December 11, 1913 in Scranton, a daughter of the late William and Olwen (Reese) Ruch. Throughout her younger years, Olwen attended and later graduated from the Scranton Technical High School in 1931. Olwen spent most of her life operating the family business, Olwen Heights Water Company, with her husband, the late Jack Adler. She was a member of the Moscow United Methodist Church for many years. Olwen was also the name sake of the Olwen Heights Residential Development in Moscow.
In addition to her parents and late husband, Olwen was also preceded in death by four brothers: Allen James Ruch, Herbert Walter Ruch, Arthur Daniel Ruch, and William Reese Ruch.
Survivors include her only son: John R. Adler and wife, Linda, of Mainville; a granddaughter: Virginia J. Cook of Alabaster, AL; a grandson: John Colby Adler and wife, Vanessa, of Catawissa; and also two great-grandchildren: Thea and Mason Cook.
A Graveside Committal service will be held on Monday morning, September 8 at 11 a.m. in the Fairview Memorial Park, 111 State Route 435, Elmhurst, PA 18416, with Rev. Jeff Levy, of the Moscow United Methodist Church officiating. The Allen Funeral Home, Inc., 745 Market at Eighth Street, Bloomsburg is honored to be serving the Adler family.
