Nelda F. Carney, age 90, of Bloomsburg, passed away on Saturday, March 30, 2024, at her home in Orange Township where she resided for over 25 years.
Nelda was born on Wednesday, November 1, 1933, in Colorado City, TX, a daughter of the late Charles and Audrey (Harris) Marshall. She graduated from the Colorado City High School in 1950. In 1950, she married her loving spouse, Norman Gene Carney who preceded her in death in 2022. She had previously volunteered at the Columbia County Traveling Library and at the Newburgh, IN Library. She liked playing bridge and crocheted in her younger years. She loved to travel. Between her husband's work and family vacations she traveled to 47 different states and Canada. She was a homemaker by trade, and took great pride in her family, home and friends. She loved to garden, watch birds and read.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was also preceded in death by a son: Charles Gene Carney; three grandchildren: Timmy Carney, John Carney and Austin Carney and two siblings; Lita and Quenton. She is the last of her generation on both sides.
Survivors include her beloved son: W. Max Carney and wife Mary E. of Bloomsburg, two grandsons: Matthew Charles Carney and wife Amber Brennan of Thorndale, PA, and Michael Allen Scott Carney of Bloomsburg.
Private Graveside committal services will be at the convenience of the family. The Allen Funeral Home, Inc. 745 Market at Eighth Street, Bloomsburg is honored to be serving the Carney family.
