Ned M. Getty, age 77, of Catawissa, passed away on Wednesday, March 12, 2025, a patient of the Geisinger Medical Center, Danville. He was a lifelong resident of Locust Twp.

Ned was born on Thursday, April 24, 1947, in Bloomsburg, son of the late Gerald M. and Blanche A. (Miller) Getty. He graduated from Southern Columbia High School in 1965. Ned faithfully served in the United States Army during the Vietnam War enlisting on November 20, 1967, and was honorably discharged on November 9, 1971. On June 17, 1967, Ned married his loving wife, the former Kathleen Getkin. For many years, Ned was employed by PPL as an electrician until his retirement on April 1, 2011. Ned was a faithful member of the Kulp United Methodist Church, Catawissa. He was also a member of the Locust Twp. Zoning Board and a former Boy Scout Leader. Ned loved mowing grass, farming, camping, fishing, bird watching, spending time with their dog, Cooper, and watching his grandchildren's sporting events and activities.

In addition to his parents, Ned was also preceded in death by a sister, Sandra Snyder, and a brother-in-law, Harold Snyder.

Survivors include his beloved wife of 57 years, Kathleen Getty of Catawissa; two children: Corey S. Getty and wife Marianne Kreisher of Bloomsburg, Wendy K. Potter and husband Mark of Catawissa; eight grandchildren: Claudia Waltman and husband Shane of Hetlerville, Lydia Getty of Bloomsburg, Leah Klingerman and husband Ricky of State College, Lindsey Fogelsanger of Bloomsburg, Lilian Fogelsanger of Bloomsburg, Jake Fogelsanger of Bloomsburg, Cole Potter of Catawissa, Logan Potter of Catawissa; and a sister, Sharon Hayman and husband Kenneth of Catawissa.

A time of Visitation for family and friends will be held on Monday, March 17, 2025, from 4:00 pm to 6:00 pm at the Allen Funeral Home, Inc., 745 Market at Eighth St., Bloomsburg and on Tuesday, March 18, 2025, from 10:00 am to 11:00 am at the Kulp United Methodist Church, 1395 Old Reading Road, Catawissa.

Funeral Services will begin on Tuesday, March 18, 2025, at 11:00 am at the Kulp United Methodist Church with Pastor Kym Eichelberger, officiating. Graveside committal services will immediately follow in the Kulp United Methodist Church Cemetery, Catawissa, with military honors provided by the Catawissa VFW Post 8306. The Allen Funeral Home, Inc., Bloomsburg is honored to be serving the Getty family.
