Nebiye A. Karlonis, age 86, of New Philadelphia, passed away on Monday, December 5, 2016, surrounded by her loving family at the home of her daughter in Madison Twp., Columbia County. Nebiye was under the care of Columbia Montour Hospice. She was a resident of her home in New Philadelphia for over 50 years.
Nebiye was born on Saturday, March 1, 1930 in Kesan, Turkey, a daughter of the late Ibrahim and Sebile Bilir.
For many years, Nebiye was employed by State Manufacturing Co. as an Machine Operator until her retirement. Nebiye was a member of the Holy Cross Catholic Church, New Philadelphia. She enjoyed spending her time cooking, sewing, and spending time with her grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, Nebiye was also preceded by her husband, John C. Karlonis on October 30, 1986. .
Survivors include five children: Sencan Okten of Turkey, John E. (Claudia) Karlonis of Richland, PA, Albert R. Karlonis of New Philadelphia, Linda J. (James) McCann of Bloomsburg, and Kevin M. Karlonis of New Philadelphia, and 8 grandchildren.
A time of Visitation for family and friends will be held on Friday, December 9, 2016 from 10:00 am to 11:00 am at the Allen Funeral Home, Inc., 745 Market at Eighth St., Bloomsburg.
Funeral Services will continue on Friday at 11:00 am with Monsignor Robert E. Lawrence, Saint Columba Catholic Church, officiating. The Allen Funeral Home, Inc., is honored to be serving the Karlonis family.
