Nancy M. (Winn) Leighow, age 70, a life-long resident of Bloomsburg, died on Wednesday evening, September 10, 2014 a patient at Geisinger Medical Center, Danville.
Nancy was born on Sunday, May 28, 1944 in Bloomsburg, a daughter of the late Zender and Mary (Brown) Winn. Throughout her younger years, Nancy attended the former Scott School on Old Berwick Road in Bloomsburg. In addition to caring for her family, Nancy was formerly employed by Hanover Foods. For over 21 years, Nancy was most recently employed by Wise Potato Chips Company in Berwick.
In addition to her parents, Nancy was preceded in death by a son: Mark Leighow in 1986; her companion of 24 years, Harold Troy, who passed on March 1, 2007; and also by a brother: Doyle Winn who passed on May 6, 2001.
Survivors include two sons: Robert P. Leighow, Jr. and wife, Linda, of Zion Grove; and Keith A. Leighow and companion, Bonnie Morris, of Benton; four daughters: Brenda S. Buckwalter of Bloomsburg; Karen S. Veth and husband, Frederick, of Danville; Donna Carter of Falls Church, VA; and Kristen Barrett of Bloomsburg; thirteen grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and eight siblings: William Winn and wife, Ann, of Bloomsburg; Kay Rupp and husband, Kimber, of Palm Bay, FL; Wallace Winn of Bloomsburg; Letha LeVan and husband, Larry, of Bloomsburg; Harriet Kosinski and husband, Andy, of Kissimmee, FL; Larry Winn and wife, Linda, of Bloomsburg; Susan Roberts and husband, Arnold, of Bloomsburg; and Robert Winn of Catawissa.
A time of Visitation for family and friends will be held on Sunday evening, September 14 from 4 to 6 p.m. from the Allen Funeral Home, Inc., 745 Market at Eighth Street, Bloomsburg.
Funeral services will begin on Monday afternoon, September 15 at 1 p.m. from the Allen Funeral Home, Inc., Bloomsburg with Rev. Allen A. Acor, officiating. Graveside committal services will immediately follow in the Creveling Cemetery, Almedia. The Allen Funeral Home, Inc. is honored to be serving the Leighow family.
