Myrtle L. Edwards, age 91, of Bloomsburg, died on Monday, June 12, 2017, a patient of the Brookdale Assisted Living of Bloomsburg. Myrtle was a life long resident of Columbia County.
Myrtle was born on Friday, July 10, 1925 in Espy, a daughter of the late W. Sterling and Edith (DeWald) Lehman. Throughout her younger years, Myrtle attended the Scott Township schools, and later graduated as Valedictorian of the Scott High School class of 1943.
On October 10, 1946, Myrtle married her loving husband, Rollin J. Edwards, who died August 31, 2000. For over 35 years, Myrtle was employed by Magee Carpet Co. as an Office Clerk until her retirement in 1987. She was a member of the Shiloh Bible Church, Almedia. Myrtle enjoyed spending her time being an active volunteer with many orphanages and missionary organizations and she served area congregations where her husband was pastor.
In addition to her parents and husband, Myrtle was also preceded by a sister, Dorothy Cole.
Survivors include her son: Gary Edwards of Aiken, SC; two grandchildren: Michael Edwards (Stephanie) of Rochester Hills, MI, and Lindsay Edwards of Rochester, MI; great grandchildren: Andrew Edwards and Anna Edwards; and two sisters: Phyllis Hoffman of Bloomsburg and Mary Williams of Orangeville, PA.
A time of Visitation for family and friends will be held on Thursday, June 15, 2017 from 4:00 pm to 6:00 pm at the Allen Funeral Home, Inc. 745 Market at Eighth St., Bloomsburg.
Funeral Services will begin on Friday, June 16, 2017 at 10:00 am at the Allen Funeral Home, Inc. with her pastor, Rev. Dr. Douglas H. Lyon, officiating. Graveside committal services will immediately follow in Elan Memorial Park. The Allen Funeral Home, Inc., is honored to be serving the Edwards family.
