Michael Eric Somerville, age 21, of Bloomsburg, died on Tuesday, October 29, 2019, at his Montour Twp. home.

Michael Eric was born on Monday, December 8, 1997 in Cleveland, Ohio, the son of Michael LaMar and Dione Dorsey Somerville. He attended the Bloomsburg area schools, and later graduated from Bloomsburg High School in 2016. He was currently a student at Bloomsburg University, majoring in digital forensics. He transferred to Bloomsburg University after attending Shippensburg University from 2016-2018. At Shippensburg, Michael Eric entered as a Board of Governor's Scholar and played football both years, including the 2017 Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference Championship Football team also earning a berth for the NCAA tournament. He also played football briefly for Bloomsburg University.

At Bloomsburg Area High School, Michael Eric was selected into the STEM program and also took ACE courses at Bloomsburg University, Michael Eric earned the Scholar Athlete Award from the National Football Foundation College Football Hall of Fame, Central Pennsylvania Chapter. He was selected for the 2016 Lions International All Star Football Game, starting both Offensive Line and Defensive Line. An avid athlete, he also played basketball and baseball, and his senior year, track and field. He also took honors in the 2016 weightlifting tournament, Rams Power Day. Michael Eric was also an outdoorsman. He enjoyed hunting and always looked forward to deer season. He was a member of Susquehanna Valley Beagle Club and volunteered to marshal at trials. He loved rabbit hunting, raising and training beagles with his father.

Michael Eric was preceded in death by his grandparents, Desmor (King) and Percival Martin Dorsey of Detroit, MI and John A. Somerville of Sawyerville, AL and by his cousin Morgan Imani Guice of Detroit, MI.

Survivors include his beloved parents; Michael LaMar and Dione Dorsey Somerville at home; his sister, McKenna Marie Somerville of Bloomsburg and a current student at The Ohio State University; grandmother, Jettie Mae (Collins) Somerville of Sawyerville, AL. He is also survived by his loving aunts and uncles, Gwendolyn Anthana Somerville of Sawyerville, AL, John Eric and Pamela (Smith) Somerville of Louisburg, NC, Debra Denise Dorsey of San Francisco, CA, Deena (Dorsey) Guice of Minneapolis, MN, Dana Michael Dorsey, David Villeret Dorsey, Duncan Christopher Dorsey, and Tonya (Bascomb) Dorsey all of Detroit, MI. Michael Eric is also survived by cousins and loved ones from throughout the country.

A time of Visitation for family and friends will be held on Monday, November 4, 2019 from 12:00 noon to 1:00 pm at the Allen Funeral Home, Inc., 745 Market at Eighth Streets, Bloomsburg.

Funeral Services will begin on Monday, November 4, 2019 at 1:00 pm at the Allen Funeral Home, Inc. with Pastor Chuck Chamberlain, Bloomsburg Southern Baptist Church, officiating.

Graveside committal services will be held privately in Martin Family Cemetery, Greensboro, AL. The Allen Funeral Home, Inc., is honored to be serving the Somerville family.
