Obituary

Michael "Jersey Mike" McCullough, age 63, of Bloomsburg, passed away on Friday, November 3, 2023, at his home. He was a resident of his home in Bloomsburg for over ten years.

He was born on Friday, April 29, 1960 in Somerville, New Jersey, a son of the late Joseph and Geraldine (Krunkowski) McCullough.

He had a zest for life always up for spontaneously driving to New Jersey or New York in search of the best pizza, hot dogs, or pastry. His love for New Jersey was unmatched and he had a gift for finding the most interesting, obscure places to visit or dine. Locally, he frequented festivals, carnivals, etc. for the best food, traditional Polish delicacies would always win out. He loved road trips anywhere and found joy and beauty along the way. His life was truly about the journey, and he made every moment count.

He was an avid Kansas City Chiefs fan since childhood and made the trip to Chiefs Training Camp in St. Joseph, Missouri every year. He went to at least 1 away game every season, always painted up to support his team. He also frequented comic cons, always in costume as a Superhero (which he always will be in the eyes of those who knew and loved him).

He is a friend of Bill (if you know, you know) and lived a clean and sober life for the last 18 years. He reached out to others struggling with this disease and went faithfully into prisons and rehabs to share his experience, strength, and hope. He will always be a legend and inspiration to everyone who had the extreme pleasure to know him. His ability to overcome great odds by beating cancer and addiction is an inspiration to many, and he will forever be remembered by those closest to him as the strongest man on earth. Words cannot express how much he was loved and how many lives he touched by his strength. He also leaves behind his dogs, Chief & Regal, who brought him great happiness and comfort.

Survivors include his beloved fiancee of five years, Dana Slusser of Bloomsburg, a daughter, Paige McCullough of Voorhees, NJ, two siblings; Joe McCullough and wife Patti of Bloomsburg, Donna Auster and husband Andy of Miami, FL. and 3 nieces; Bethany, Holly, Kimberly and a nephew Danny.
