Michael A. Arcus, age 60, a lifelong resident of Bloomsburg, died Friday evening, October 21, 2011 in the Grandview Health Homes, Danville where he had resided since October 13th. Michael had been in ill health for the past several months.
Born in Danville on Sunday, December 24, 1950, Michael was a son of the late Max and Vivian Simon Arcus. He attended the Bloomsburg Area schools.
Michael was a self-employed businessman in the Bloomsburg community for his entire working career. On May 6, 1971, with his brother, he established Arcus Brothers, Inc., which he was Vice-President.
Survivors include his wife, Dawn (Strouse) Arcus, whom he married on May 6, 2003; also surviving are three step-children: Alyscia Haynes of Danville; Shannon Reeves and husband, Jermaine, of Berwick; and Corey Getkin of Catawissa; six step-grandchildren; a brother: Stephen Arcus and wife, Sherrie of Scranton; a sister: Lisa Goldman of Pittsburgh; and many nieces and nephews.
Graveside services will be held on Sunday, October 23 at 1 p.m. in the cemetery of Ohev Shlon Synagonue, Berwick. The Arcus family is being assisted by the Allen Funeral Home, Inc., 745 Market at Eighth St., Bloomsburg.
