Maxine A. (Fetterolf) Coxe, age 87, a life-long resident of Bloomsburg, died on Monday evening, March 16, 2015 at her home surrounded by family. Maxine was a resident of her home in Almedia for over 57 years.
Maxine was born on Monday, October 3, 1927 in Bloomsburg, a daughter of the late John C. and Zula (Stiner) Fetterolf. Throughout her younger years, she attended the Bloomsburg area schools and later graduated from the Bloomsburg High School in 1945 . On June 3, 1950, Maxine married her loving husband, Richard A. Coxe, of Bloomsburg.
For over 25 years, Maxine was employed by the former Sears & Roebuck Company in the Credit Department. Prior to her employment at Sears, she was also employed for a brief period with PP&L. Maxine and her husband were both dedicated members of the Ridge Street United Methodist Church in Almedia, where she attended the Adult Sunday School Class, and also spent many years helping with the various church activities. She was also a member of the local Almedia Home Makers group.
In addition to her parents, Maxine was also preceded in death by two sisters: Rowena Raup and Yvonne Fetterolf.
Survivors include her beloved husband of 64 years, Richard A. Coxe, of Almedia; a brother: John "Jack" Fetterolf and wife, Ruth, of Danville; a sister: Naomi Creasy of Almedia and also many nieces and nephews.
A time of Visitation for family and friends will be held on Thursday evening, March 19 from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Allen Funeral Home, Inc., 745 Market at Eighth Street in Bloomsburg.
Funeral services will begin on Friday morning, March 20 at 11 a.m. at the Ridge Street United Methodist Church, 145 Ridge Street (Almedia), Bloomsburg with her pastor, Rev. Robert J. Eddinger, officiating. Graveside committal services will immediately follow in Lime Ridge.
