Mary Josephine Yoder, age 96, of Berwick and formerly of Bloomsburg, passed away on Wednesday, March 8, 2023, at Geisinger Medical Center, Danville.
She was born on Saturday, December 4, 1926 in Trevorton, a daughter of the late Dominic and Leona (Novicenski) Vottero. On May 17, 1947, Mary married her loving husband, Donald T. Yoder, who preceded her in death on April 17, 1994. She was a textile worker for over 17 years at Magee Carpet Company, Bloomsburg. Mary was a devout Catholic and a member of St. Columba Catholic Church, Bloomsburg. She loved her entire family so much including her four sons, her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Additionally, she also loved her Catholic faith, sewing, cooking and baking.
In addition to her parents and husband, Mary was also preceded in death by three brothers: Francis "Dick" Vottero, John Vottero and Bernard Vottero.
Survivors include her four beloved sons: Donald F. Yoder and his wife Virginia of Bloomsburg; Leonard A. Yoder and his wife Karen of Harrisburg; Stephen J. Yoder and his wife Susan of Pittsville, MD; Michael T. Yoder and his wife Connie of Bloomsburg. Thirteen grandchildren: Traci L. Yoder; Angela Miller and husband Chad Cressler; Mark Wagner; Alycia Wood and husband Kevin; Kelly Tarkenton and husband Jamie; Chad Yoder and wife Kristin; Scott Yoder and wife Kim; Michael Yoder, Jr. and wife Stacy; Heather Vassallo and husband Sam; Allison Hall and husband Thomas; Kelly Fox and husband Michael; Valerie Heimbach and husband Ryan; James Earnest and wife Lori; 23 great-grandchildren, and a sister, Rita Troutman of Trevorton.
A time of visitation for family and friends will be held on Friday, March 17, 2023 from 10:00 am to 11:00 am at St. Columba Catholic Church, 342 Iron St., Bloomsburg.
A Mass of Christian Burial will begin on Friday, March 17, 2023 at 11:00 am at St. Columba Catholic Church with Rev. Richard J. Mowery, Celebrant. Graveside committal services will immediately follow in Elan Memorial Park, Bloomsburg. The Allen Funeral Home, Inc., 745 Market at Eighth Street, Bloomsburg is honored to be serving the Yoder family.
