Obituary

Mary T. Torretti, age 89, formerly of New Cumberland, passed away on Sunday, December 13, 2020, a resident of Geisinger Home Health & Hospice at Maria Hall in Danville. Mary was a resident of her home in New Cumberland for over 56 years.

She was born on June 25, 1931 in Rossiter, a daughter of the late Joseph and Devina (Falcone) Calabrese. Mary graduated from Rossiter High School. She attended Indiana State Teacher's College, was a member of Sigma Kappa Sorority, and graduated with a Bachelor's Degree in Education. Mary taught business subjects at Rossiter and Punxsutawney High Schools prior to her marriage. On June 24, 1961, Mary married her loving husband, Quinto Torretti who preceded her in death on September 6, 2007.

Mary was a member of St. Theresa Catholic Church, New Cumberland. She was a member of the New Cumberland Lions Club Ladies' Auxiliary, and she was a substitute teacher at St. Theresa's School. Mary was a wonderful mother, loving wife, and devoted daughter. She was known for her beautiful, radiant smile and touched the lives of so many with her gentleness, kindness and compassion. Mary embodied her Catholic faith, especially in her loving respect for others and her commitment to her family. Mary enjoyed teaching, reading, gardening, cooking and baking, and spending time with family and friends.

In addition to her parents and husband, Mary was also preceded in death by a brother, James Calabrese.

Survivors include her beloved children: a son James J. Torretti of San Mateo, CA, two daughters, Lisa M. wife of Edward Keller of Bloomsburg, Gina M. Torretti of Alexandria, VA, two grandsons, Nathan Keller, Nicholas Keller, and a sister-in-law, Joyce Calabrese of FL.

A celebration of life service will be held at a future date. The Allen Funeral Home, Inc., 745 Market at Eighth Streets, Bloomsburg is honored to be serving the Torretti family.
