Mary Lou Long, age 82, of Dug Road, Bloomsburg, died on Wednesday, May 4, 2011 surrounded by her family, at her residence in Madison Township under the care of Columbia Montour Home Hospice. She was a resident of her home on Dug Road for over 39 years. She had been failing health since November of last year.
Mary Lou was born on Wednesday, October 24, 1928 in Bloomsburg, a daughter of the late Howard and Ruth (Goodall) Patterson. She attended the Bloomsburg Area Schools. She was last employed by the Bloomsburg School District and worked in the Bloomsburg Elementary School Cafeteria. She also helped her late husband in caring for the family farm in Madison Township.
She was the widow of the late Albert L. Long, who passed on March 25, 2007. She was also preceded in death by two sisters: Beverly Hack in 1991 and also Emily Rhone in 2000.
Survivors include a son: Dennis Long and wife, Dorothy, of Bloomsburg; three grandchildren: Leigh Ellyn Hrinda and husband, Peter; Christopher M. Long and wife, Pam; and also Kayla Long; three great-grandchildren; two sisters: Dawn Zeisloft and Ruth "Betty" Hack, both of Bloomsburg.
Funeral Services will be held on Monday, May 9 at 11 a.m. from the Allen Funeral Home, 745 Market at Eighth Street in Bloomsburg, with Rev. R. Christian Dunlap, Columbia Montour Home Health Chaplain, officiating. Friends will be received on Monday from 10 a.m. until the time of service. Graveside Services will be held in New Rosemont Cemetery, Espy.
