Mary Ellen Keough, age 71 of Catawissa, entered fully into the presence of the Lord on Sunday, August 8, 2021, at her home of natural causes. Mary Ellen was a resident of her home in Catawissa for over 14 years.
She was born on November 16, 1949 in Pittsburgh, a daughter of the late Edward and Mary (Furimsky) Toocheck. Mary married her late husband, Gary Edward Keough on December 21, 1974. Her contributions to the lives of many included volunteering at hospitals to counsel those stricken with cancer, about the hope in Christ.
She was active in her community to the children where she made dolls that resembled cabbage patch kids and sold them for humble prices or gave them away to those children in the community who could not afford it. She would open her home to the neighborhood children for bible study lessons providing games and meals in order to spread the truth about the Good News of the Lord. She was an active member in her church at Calvary Baptist where she served on the banquet committee. She also opened her home to missionaries serving abroad, providing food and rest while visiting the U.S. In her years of youth she was a member of the Pittsburgh Tamburitzans and traveled the world. This earned her a scholarship at Duquesne University where she received her Bachelor's of Science. She graduated the University of Colorado in 1986 with a Pharmacy Degree and practiced as a Pharmacist for 30 years. She loved most spending time and fellowshipping with her family.
Survivors include three children, Elizabeth Ann wife of Jason Weber, Joelle Lynn Keough, Matthew Edward Keough and wife Cassandra Ballente Keough, five grandchildren, Dillon, Noah, Lucy, Gwyneth, and Vann, and several brother and sister in laws. Mary Ellen will live on in the hearts and minds of all those she helped, interacted with, and served.
