Dr. Mary Kenny Badami, age 68, of Scenic Avenue, Bloomsburg passed away Friday, June 11, 2010 at her home. Mary was born on Saturday, August 30, 1941 in the Bronx, New York, the daughter of the late Ann (McElhone) Kenny. She served on the faculty as a tenured professor at Bloomsburg University from 1981 until her retirement in 2006 in the Communication Studies Department, where she also served as Chairperson for six years. She was an avid reader, especially of science fiction, she loved theater, teaching, fierce debate, folk music, Magnum P.I., and her family. With an amazing mind and memory, she enjoyed Team Trivia every Thursday at Harry's Bar and Grill with her friends. She was also a four-day champion on the TV show Jeopardy in 1966. She is survived by her daughter, Linda Badami of New York, New York; a son Scott Badami and his wife, Heather; 2 grandsons Alex and Evan all of Blue Bell, Pennsylvania; brother Paul Kenny and his wife, Judy, of Scotia, New York; and a niece, Alison Kenny. She is also survived by her beloved friends Harry Strausser III, Dwayne Heisler, Chris Defrain, Kara Shultz and Mike Dillion. A Memorial service and a time of gathering for friends will be held on Thursday, July 1, 2010 at 5:30 p.m. from the Barn at Boone's Damn, 737 West Fort McClure Boulevard in Bloomsburg.
