Martin C. “Marty” Temple, 78, of Bloomsburg, passed away suddenly on Wednesday, August 26, 2026, succumbing to injuries suffered in an automobile accident.
Marty was born in Bloomsburg on Tuesday, December 23, 1947, a son of the late Ralph M. and Betty B. (Welliver) Temple. He graduated from Central Columbia High School, Class of 1966. Marty faithfully served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War, serving from 1966 – 1969. He was a long-time employee of Milco Industries and of the Howard Organization, from which he retired. He was a member of the Ft. McClure Post #804 VFW and the Bloomsburg Archery Club. Marty took great pride in maintaining his home and had a knack for taking a project and creating a functional work of art. He enjoyed puttering around his house and riding his motorcycle. He had maintained a positive attitude and was winning his battle against cancer when his life was tragically ended.
In addition to his parents, Marty was preceded in death by his son, Michael Temple; nephew, Michal Temple; niece, April Temple; and brother, Gerald Temple.
Survivors include his beloved siblings: Larry Sommers and wife, Linda, of Catawissa, Joann Temple of Bloomsburg, David Temple of Orangeville, Donna Moore and husband, Robert, of Bloomsburg, Ralph Temple and wife, Karen, of Bloomsburg. He will also be missed by a host of nephews and nieces, as well as his companion, Marie Diano, and the guys he rode motorcycle with.
Marty’s Memorial Service will be 11 AM Thursday, September 10, 2026 at the Allen Funeral Home, Inc., 745 Market Street, Bloomsburg, with Pastor Gail Kitchen, Jerseytown Charge United Methodist Churches, officiating. Friends will be received from 9:30 AM until the time of the Memorial Service at 11 AM. Interment with Military Honors at Millville Cemetery will follow the memorial service. The Allen Funeral Home, Inc., is honored to be serving the Temple family.
