Martha T. (Remchow) McHugh, age 88, of Bloomsburg, died on Monday evening, Feb. 10, 2014, a resident of Emeritus at Bloomsburg since 2008. Prior to moving to Bloomsburg, Martha was a resident of her home in Westerville, Ohio.
Martha was born on Monday, March 25, 1925, in Wilkes-Barre, a daughter of the late Vincent and Suzanne (Selecki) Remchow. Throughout her younger years, Martha attended and graduated from the Coughlin High School in Wilkes-Barre. Martha dedicated her life to caring for her family and children. She was a member of the St. Columba Catholic Parish in Bloomsburg
On Jan. 1, 2004, Martha was preceded in death by her late husband, Bernard McHugh, and also by seven siblings: Adam, Vincent, John, Albert, Karl, Joe and Emily. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family.
Survivors include three children: Bernard McHugh and wife, Debbie Ann, of Bloomsburg; Cynthia Ann Sipher and husband, Thomas, of Fishers, Ind.; and Beverly McHugh of Westerville, Ohio; and five grandchildren.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday morning, Feb. 22, at 10 from the St. Columba Catholic Church, 342 Iron and Third Street, Bloomsburg, with Monsignor Robert E. Lawrence as celebrant. Graveside committal services will be held in the Sacred Heart Parish Cemetery in Dallas, Luzerne County. The Allen Funeral Home, 745 Market at Eighth Street, Bloomsburg is honored to be serving the McHugh family.
