Obituary

Marlin H. Schock, age 81 of Catawissa, passed away on Monday, January 1, 2024, a patient of the Emmanuel Nursing Center in Danville. He was a resident of his home in Locust Twp. for over 58 years.

He was born on Monday, September 28, 1942 in New Ringgold, a son of the late Roy and Berneice (Folk) Schock. He graduated from the Blue Mountain High School, Schuylkill Haven in 1960. He expanded his education by attending Penn State University and graduated with a bachelor's degree in 1964. On August 22, 1964, Marlin married his loving wife, the former Carol Ann Frederick. For many years, he was self-employed as a farmer and in his early days he was a teacher at Southern Columbia High School. He was a member of the Grace United Church of Christ, Catawissa where he served as a member of the Consistory. He also served on the Columbia County Planning Board and was a 4 H leader at the Columbia County Livestock.

In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by two foster sons; Carl Smith and Roger Steffen, as well as two brothers; Donald Schock and Barry Schock.

Survivors include his beloved wife of 59 years; Carol Ann Schock, two children; Suzanne Harder and Christopher Schock all of Catawissa, four siblings; Linda Roberts of Tamaqua, Carol Hollenbach of New Ringgold, Barbara Bolich of Orwigsburg and Bruce Schock of Tamaqua, four grandchildren; Sarah, Rebecca, Natalie, Marlowe, three foster grandchildren; Eric, Amy, Laura, two foster great-grandchildren; Elle and Nicholas.

A time of Visitation for family and friends will be held on Saturday, January 13, 2024 from 10:00 am to 11:00 am at the Grace United Church of Christ, One Pension Street, (Millgrove) Catawissa.

Funeral Services will begin on Saturday, January 13, 2024 at 11:00 am at the Grace United Church of Christ, with Pastor David Adams, officiating. The Allen Funeral Home, Inc. 745 Market at Eighth Street, Bloomsburg is honored to be serving the Schock family.
