Marjorie G. Dieffenbacher, age 93, of Bloomsburg, passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family on Tuesday, April 11, 2023, while a patient of the Geisinger Hospice in Danville. She was a lifelong resident of Bloomsburg.
Marjorie was born on Monday, April 7, 1930 in Bloomsburg, a daughter of the late Robert S. and Mildred E. (Hock) Laubach. She graduated from the Bloomsburg High School in 1948 and was the first Prom Queen. On November 27, 1948, Marjorie married her loving husband, Donald J. Dieffenbacher of Bloomsburg, who preceded her in death on August 3, 2020. Marjorie was an active member and deaconess of the First Baptist Church, Danville. She was also a member of the Hemlock Township Homemakers Club, Cub Scout Den Mother and Judge of Elections of Hemlock Township for many years. Her love for the Lord and family was most important to her. The kitchen was her domain. She loved cooking and entertaining for all of her extended family. Their farm was the hub of regular gatherings of family and friends.
In addition to her parents and loving husband, she was also preceded in death by a sister, Maxine Nevil and a brother, Ronald "Lefty" Laubach.
Survivors include her four beloved children; Scott Dieffenbacher and wife Patricia of Shavertown, Debra Decker and husband Thomas of Bloomsburg, Denise Ottaviani and husband Daniel of Bloomsburg, Mark Dieffenbacher and wife Fiona of New York, NY, six grandchildren, twelve great grandchildren and four siblings: Gary Laubach, Donna Harvey, Ted Laubach all of Bloomsburg, and Dorothy "Dot" Simons of Bradenton, FL.
A time of Visitation for family and friends will be held on Saturday, April 15, 2023 from 10:00 am to 11:00 am at the First Baptist Church, 12 Brookside Drive, Danville.
Funeral Services will begin on Saturday, April 15, 2023 at 11:00 am with Rev. Dawes Dunham, officiating. Graveside committal services will immediately follow at Dutch Hill Cemetery, 592 Dutch Hill Road, Bloomsburg. The Allen Funeral Home, Inc. 745 Market at Eighth Street, Bloomsburg is honored to be serving the Dieffenbacher family.
