Marion E. Powlus, age 93, of Bloomsburg, passed away on Tuesday, February 5, 2019, a patient of the Geisinger Bloomsburg Hospital. Marion was a resident of Bloomsburg for most of her life.

She was born on Wednesday, July 1, 1925 in Wilkes Barre, a daughter of the late William Harry and Marion H. (Sweitzer) Thomas. Throughout her younger years, Marion attended the Bloomsburg area schools, and later graduated from the Bloomsburg High School in 1943.

Marion was married for 60 years to her loving husband, Vernon F. Powlus who preceded her in death on July 10, 2003. She enjoyed spending her time going to bingo, doing crafts especially knitting, shopping and playing cards. Marion loved to spend time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren.

In addition to her parents and husband, Marion was also preceded in death a by granddaughter, Megan M. Powlus, a sister in law, Maryann Thomas, and a brother in law, John Reinford.

Survivors include her four children, a daughter, Lynn wife of Robert Johnson of Bloomsburg, three sons, William V. Powlus and wife Kathy of Phoenix, AZ, Kent A. Powlus and wife Joanne, of Bloomsburg, and H. Fred Powlus, II of Bloomsburg, 10 grandchildren, 18 great grandchildren, a brother, Donald A. Thomas of Northumberland, and a sister, Luann C. Reinford of Bloomsburg.

A time of Visitation for family and friends will be held on Thursday, February 7, 2019 from 1:00 pm to 2:00 pm at the Allen Funeral Home, Inc., 745 Market at Eighth Streets, Bloomsburg.

Funeral Services will begin on Thursday, February 7, 2019 at 2:00 pm at the Allen Funeral Home, Inc. in with Pastor Scott Lyons, of Stillwater Christian Church, officiating. The Allen Funeral Home, Inc., is honored to be serving the Powlus family.
