Marion E. "Andy" Thomas, age 80, of Bloomsburg, passed away on Saturday morning, February 3, 2024, surrounded by his loving family at Emmanuel Nursing Center, Danville. Andy was a resident of Bloomsburg for most of his life.
He was born on Friday, November 12, 1943 in Bloomsburg, a son of the late Earl and Lillian (Patton) Thomas. Throughout his younger years, Andy attended the Millville area schools. On March 19, 1961, he married his loving wife, the former Mildred E. Remick. For over 20 years, Andy was employed by Friedman Electric, Bloomsburg as a salesclerk until his retirement in 2006. He was a member of St. Matthew Lutheran Church, Bloomsburg and a former member of the Montour Twp. Fire Company, he also coached Bloomsburg Little League for many years. He loved spending time with family, especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren's sporting events. He like to hunt, especially out west in Colorado, Wyoming and Idaho.
In addition to his parents, Andy was also preceded in death by a son, Monty Earl Thomas on October 3, 1979, a brother, Larue Thomas, four sisters, Margaret Young, Joann Knittle, Donna Holdren, and Deborah Thomas, two sisters-in-law, Suzie Thomas, and Nancy Thomas, two brothers-in-law, Donald Young, and William Lutz.
Survivors include his beloved wife of 62 years, Mildred E. Thomas of Bloomsburg, a daughter, Michele E. Coombe and her husband Tom of Bloomsburg, two grandsons, Tom Coombe and wife Jennee of Bloomsburg, Tyler Coombe and wife Casey of Bloomsburg, five great-grandchildren, Harper Coombe, Graham Coombe, Crue Coombe, Trey Coombe, and Cooper Coombe, a sister, Jean Lutz of Lightstreet, three brothers, Donald Thomas of Lightstreet, Dale Thomas and wife Gail of Rohrsburg, and Richard Thomas of Lightstreet, two brothers-in-law, Chet Knittle of Lightstreet, and Richard Holdren of Jerseytown.
A time of Visitation for family and friends will be held on Friday, February 9, 2024 from 10:00 am to 11:00 am at St. Matthew Lutheran Church, 123 Market St., Bloomsburg.
Funeral Services will begin on Friday, February 9, 2024 at 11:00 am at St. Matthew Lutheran Church with Rev. Dr. Joel L. Zeiders, officiating. Graveside committal services will immediately follow in New Rosemont Cemetery, Bloomsburg. The Allen Funeral Home, Inc., 745 Market at Eighth St., Bloomsburg is honored to be serving the Thomas family.
