Marietta Kressler, age 90, a lifelong resident of Mainville and formerly of W. Third St. in Bloomsburg, died on Thursday, July 21, 2011 a resident of Bloomsburg Health Care Center.
Marietta was born on Sunday, January 16, 1921 in Danville, a daughter of the late Stewart and Effie (Stetler) Steinruck. She attended the Bloomsburg Area Schools in her younger years. Throughout her entire life, she was a devoted wife and loving mother to her family. She was a member of Almedia Bible Church for over 30 years and also a member of the Christian Women's Group of Bloomsburg.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Bruce Kressler, on March 20, 1981; two sons: Jackie and Tommy Kressler; a daughter: Kay Bankes; a grandson: Brian Kressler; and also a brother: Doyle Steinruck.
She is survived by two daughters: Priscilla Watts and husband, James, of Bloomsburg, and Effie Derr and husband, Ronald, of Mifflinville; a son: Tim Kressler and wife, Barbara of Bloomsburg; nine grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren and eight great-great-grandchildren; and a sister: Ruth Walters and husband, LaRue, of Bloomsburg.
A time of Visitation for friends and family will be held on Sunday, July 24, 2011 from 6 to 8 p.m. from the Allen Funeral Home, Inc., 745 Market at Eighth Street in Bloomsburg.
Funeral Services will begin on Monday, July 25, 2011 at 10 a.m. from the Funeral Home with Lead Minister, Eric Miller, of the Bloomsburg Christian Church, officiating. Graveside Services will follow in New Rosemont Cemetery, Espy.
