Marie A. Wagner, age 92, of Bloomsburg, met her Lord and Savior on Saturday, March 30, 2024. She was born June 25, 1931 in Ashland PA, the daughter of the late Peter and Martha (Linetty) Woznicki. Marie grew up in Roaring Creek Valley, graduating from the former Locust Township High School in 1949.
On June 26, 1954, she married Ned Wagner of Upper Darby, PA. They celebrated 68 years of marriage until his passing on October 25, 2022. Marie and Ned had lived in the Bloomsburg area since 1963.
Marie was instrumental in starting a Girl Scout Troop, #74, in 1961 in Roaring Creek. She was actively involved until moving to Bloomsburg. She was active in the Altar Rosary Society and served as an officer. She was a member of St. Columba Catholic Church, an active member of the former Catholic Daughters, the Adoration Chapel for 10 years, the Marion Prayer Groups, and the St. Columba Chapter of Council of Catholic Women.
For many years, she worked with a volunteer program of the Danville State Hospital making Easter baskets for the guests. Marie was employed at JC Penney Co. for 47 years, returning to work part-time after her retirement in 1993 for an additional 15 years.
Marie and Ned enjoyed traveling extensively in all 50 states and 42 countries, taking many photos of their travels. Many trips were taken to Colorado to visit their daughter, Tanja, and her family. Marie enjoyed playing cards with a special group of friends for over 50 years. Marie loved sending cards to friends and family and always made family birthdays and holidays a special event. She was an accomplished cook and seamstress.
She is survived by her daughter, Tanja (Stephen) Bugas of Littleton, CO, son Thomas (Teresa) Wagner, of Bloomsburg, grandchildren: Tyler Bugas of Denver, CO, Thomas Wagner of La Verkin, UT, and Sarah (Aaron) Johnson of Cape Coral, Fl and Marie's first great-grandchild, Gabriel James Johnson, born May 17, 2023. Marie was thrilled to be able to see and hold him several times in the last year.
A Private Mass of Christian Burial will be held in St. Columba Catholic Church, Bloomsburg with Rev. Richard J. Mowery, Celebrant. Private Graveside committal services will be held in All Saints Cemetery, Elysburg. The Allen Funeral Home, Inc., 745 Market at Eighth Street, Bloomsburg is honored to be serving the Wagner family.
