Marian L. (Benscoter) Johnson, age 93, of Bloomsburg, died on Thursday morning, January 30, 2014 a resident of Emeritus at Bloomsburg where she had resided since January 2010. Marian was a life-long resident of Columbia County.
Marian was born on Wednesday, July 7, 1920 in Berwick, a daughter of the late Alva Keith "Bill" and Martha (Shaffer) Benscoter. In 1938, Marian completed her education after graduating from the Bloomsburg High School. Shortly after her education, Marian met and married her loving husband, Carl T. Johnson, on August 10, 1941. Marian continued to work and care for their home while her husband served with the United States Army during World War II. For over 15 years, Marian was employed by Keck's Drapery in Bloomsburg, and most recently was employed by the Rea & Derrick Drug Store in Bloomsburg for 10 years. Marian and her husband were faithful members of the Trinity United Methodist Church in Espy for many years.
On January 9, 2013, Marian was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 71 years, the late Carl T. Johnson.
Surviving is her daughter: Judy A. Pierce and husband, Stephen, of Butler, New Jersey, and a granddaughter: Lynne Pierce, also of Butler, New Jersey.
A time of Visitation for family and friends will be held on Sunday afternoon, February 2 from 2 to 4 p.m. from the Allen Funeral Home, Inc., 745 Market at Eighth Street, Bloomsburg.
Funeral services will begin on Monday morning, February 3 at 11 a.m. from the Trinity United Methodist Church, 2361 Old Berwick Road, Bloomsburg with her pastor, Caleb J. Fritz, officiating. Graveside committal services, where Marian will be laid to rest beside her late husband, will follow in the New Rosemont Cemetery, Espy.
