Marian B. (Bolton) Vitkauskas, age 84, of Bloomsburg, died on Friday evening, October 9, 2015, a resident of the Geisinger-Bloomsburg Health Care Center for the past six months. Prior to moving to the Bloomsburg area over 39 years ago, Marian was a resident of her hometown in Naugatuck, Connecticut.
Marian was born on Tuesday, August 11, 1931, in Waterbury, Connecticut, the only child of Charles and Minnie (Brady) Bolton. While growing up in Naugatuck, she graduated from the Naugatuck High School in 1949. Immediately following her education, Marian married her husband, Walter P. Vitkauskas, on September 19, 1950 in Connecticut. Marian devoted her life to her family with her husband while they raised their six children. After moving to the Bloomsburg area, Marian became a member of the Wesley United Methodist Church where she was a member of the Crusaders Sunday School Class, the church choir and also assisted in the Women of Wesley at the church. Marian was most often seen assisting with the many functions of the church including her favorites of the church bake sales and the many rummage sales.
In addition to her parents, Marian was also preceded in death by her daughter, Clare Poulin in August of 2000.
Surviving is her beloved husband with whom she celebrated their 65th Wedding Anniversary, Walter P. Vitkauskas, of Bloomsburg; three daughters: Diane Campbell and husband, Christopher, of Daytona Beach, FL; Marian Decerbo of Naugatuck, CT; and Christine Deitrick and husband, Walter, of Bloomsburg; two sons: Richard Vitkauskas of Olmstedville, NY; and David J. Vitkauskas and wife, Catherine, of Bloomsburg; thirteen grandchildren and nineteen great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday afternoon, October 13 at 2 p.m. at the Wesley United Methodist Church, 130 W. 3rd Street in Bloomsburg with her pastor, Rev. Dr. Gary D. Weaver, officiating. The Allen Funeral Home, Inc., 745 Market at Eighth Street in Bloomsburg is honored to be serving the Vitkaukas family.
