Margaret E. Strausser, age 73, of East Eighth Street in Bloomsburg, died at her home on Sunday, December 12, 2010. She was a resident of her home on Eighth Street for over 44 years. Margaret was born on Wednesday, May 12, 1937 in Danville, a daughter of the late Charles T. and Ruth Reed Myers, Sr. She attended the St. Joseph Catholic School in Danville. For over 23 years, she was employed as a Personal Care Aide by the Susquehanna Center until her retirement in 1997. She attended the St. Columba Catholic Church in Bloomsburg. She was an avid player of Bingo.
Preceding her in death were two brothers: Charles Myer, Jr. and Patrick Myers.
She is survived by her beloved husband of 57 years, Donald E. Strausser, Sr., whom she married on May 30, 1953; two daughters: Debra M. Gelnett and her husband, James, and Rose A. Strausser, both of Bloomsburg; son: Donald E. Strausser, Jr. and his wife, Beth Ann, of South Mill, NC; a niece whom she raised: Ruth Windings of Villa Ridge, IL; two nephews whom she raised: John Myers of Sunbury and Edward Myers, Jr. of Bloomsburg; eight grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and two brothers: Joseph Myers of Northumberland and Edward Myers of Danville.
Funeral Services will be held on Thursday, December 16 at 11 a.m. from the Allen Funeral Home of 745 Market at Eighth Street in Bloomsburg with Rev. Allen F. Acor, officiating. Friends will be received on Thursday at the funeral home from 10 a.m. until the time of service. Graveside Services will be held in Odd Fellows Cemetery in Danville.
