Margaret J. Johnson, age 90, of Millville, passed away on Tuesday, June 13, 2023, a patient of the Gardens at Orangeville. Margaret was a lifelong resident of her home.
Margaret was born on Friday, April 14, 1933 in Bloomsburg, a daughter of the late John Sherman and Lorma (Sadler) Johnson. She graduated from Millville High School in 1951. For over 15 years, she was employed by Bloomsburg Carpet Industries until her retirement in 1995. She was a member of the Pine Summit UMC. She nurtured a variety of flowers in her well-tended garden including gorgeous roses and lilies so tall they towered over her head. She generously shared her delicious home-grown vegetables with neighbors.
Relatives dubbed her "frontier woman" for her tough, independent nature. Her adventurous streak took her sled riding down a snowy hill at age 70, riding motorcycle and on a road trip exploring the US with her beloved brother Walt, his wife Gloria and friend Andree. Snuggling with her 20-pound cat, Miss Owl, Margaret enjoyed a good novel, especially the Zane Grey series. She learned her way around the kitchen watching TV cooking show and frequently entertained friends for meals.
In addition to her parents, Margaret was also preceded by two brothers: Walter Johnson and Robert Johnson and a sister-in-law, Gloria R. Johnson.
Survivors include three nephews: Stanley Johnson and wife Mary of Lockport, NY, Sherman Johnson and wife Sue of Muncy, Randy Johnson and wife Michelle of Newark, DE, three nieces: Wendy L. Johnson and husband Dale Faulls of New Castle, DE, Roberta Reynolds and husband Buck of Muncy, Peggy Lou Johnson of Montgomery, and a sister-in-law, Beverly J. Johnson of Muncy.
