Margaret Girton, age 87,of 278 East Sixth Street, Bloomsburg died on October 17, 2008 at Autumn Grove Cottage, Spring, Texas. Margaret was born May 14, 1921 in Mount Carmel, the daughter of the late Lewis G. Barnes and Anna (Stefanski) Barnes. She graduated from Elysburg High School. She was first employed by the former Columbia Silk Mill, and most recently employed by Milco Industries Inc. as a Seamstress and Weaver. Margaret was a member of the Bloomsburg Hospital Ladies Auxiliary and Women's Christian Association. Margaret was preceded in death by her husband the late Lester L. Girton Sr. in 1973; two sisters: Alice Barnes in 1925; Rita Barnes in 1931; and three brothers: Lewis Barnes in 1943; Thomas Barnes in 1992; and Harry Barnes in 2000.Survivors include her son: Lester L. Girton II and his wife JoAnne, Houston, Texas; a daughter: Jeanne M. Girton, Fredericksburg, VA; four brothers: Charles Barnes and his wife Charmaine, Higgins; Raymond E. Barnes and his wife Debra, Catawissa; Ralph J. Barnes, Catawissa; and Alvin J. Barnes and his wife Patricia, Dover, DE; four sisters: Louella Kessler, Selinsgrove; Jean M. Steward, Berwick; Nancy Long and her husband Ronald, Catawissa; and Mary K. Makowski and her husband Walter, Elysburg; three grandchildren, and five great-grandchildren.Funeral services will be Wednesday, October 22 at 1 p.m. from the Allen Funeral Home, 745 Market at Eighth St., Bloomsburg with Rev. Tom Fetterolf officiating. Friends will be received Tuesday from 6 p.m. until 9 p.m. Burial will be in Élan Memorial Park, Bloomsburg.
