Obituary

Margaret E. "Maggie" (Brightbill) Long, age 58, of Berwick, died Thursday, March 12, 2015 at her home surrounded by family and under the care of Geisinger Columbia Montour Hospice.
Maggie was born on Sunday, October 21, 1956 in Shamokin, a daughter of the late Jonathan and Mae (Jones) Brightbill. Throughout her younger years, she attended the Shamokin area schools and graduated from the Shamokin High School in 1974. Maggie expanded her education by attending Bloomsburg University, and graduating in 1986 with her Certified Nurse's Assistant Degree. For over 10 years, Maggie was employed as a CNA at the Bloomsburg Health Care Center until her health would not allow. She was a member of the Christ Episcopal Church in Berwick for many years. She was also a member of the "Women of the Bloomsburg Moose" Lodge L.O.O.M. #623, and also a member of the T.O.P.S. Columbia County Chapter in Bloomsburg. She also volunteered as a Team Mom for many years with the Bloomsburg Little League Association.
In addition to her parents, Maggie was also preceded in death by two brothers: Eugene and Jonathan H. Brightbill.
Survivors include her beloved husband of 40 years, Ronald H. Long, Jr. of Berwick; three sons: Chris A. Long and wife, Monica, of Bloomsburg; Michael S. Long, Sr., of Berwick; and Nick L. Long and wife, Heather, of Catawissa; nine grandchildren: Kendra, Michael Jr., Keightlynn, Evan, Caden, Collyn, Naithan, Adam and Madisyn; and also a brother: Robert K. Brightbill and wife, Margaret, of York.
A time of Visitation for family and friends will be held on Tuesday evening, March 17 from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Allen Funeral Home, Inc., 745 Market at Eighth Street in Bloomsburg.
Funeral services will begin on Wednesday morning, March 18 at 10 a.m. at the Allen Funeral Home, Inc., Bloomsburg with her pastor, Rev. Mary Kisner, officiating. Graveside committal services will be held in the New Rosemont Cemetery, Espy at a later date. The Allen Funeral Home, Inc., Bloomsburg is honored to be serving the Long family.
