Obituary

Malcolm H. Hirleman, age 96 of Main Street, Lightstreet died on Tuesday, May 04, 2010 as a patient in the Bloomsburg Hospital. He was a resident of his home in Lightstreet for over 58 years and was most recently a resident of the Bloomsburg Health Care center for the past four months.

Malcolm was born on Saturday May 2, 1914 in Central, Pennsylvania, the son of the late Guy and Amy (Hess) Hirleman. As a child, he attended the one room schoolhouse in Central. He was a 1932 graduate of the Scott High School in Espy. Until his retirement in 1975, Malcolm was the Assistant Manager for A & P Grocery Stores for over 41 years. He was a member of Shiloh Bible Church in Almedia since 1928. He held the office as Church Treasurer for over 60 years and was also formerly a member of the Deacon Board.

On August 20, 1992, he was preceded in death by his beloved wife, the late Beatrice (Edwards) Hirleman.

Survivors include three daughters: Connie Reichart and her husband, Clair of Berwick; Kay Rutledge and her husband, Donald of Budd Lake, New Jersey; and Pamela Edgar and her husband, William of Lightstreet; a son: Dennis M. Hirleman and his wife, Lois of Orangeville; eight grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren and a sister: Betty Beagle of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.
Malcolm was also preceded by a sister, Lois Quick.

A Visitation for family and friends will be held on Friday, May 7 from 10 to 11 a.m. at the Shiloh Bible Church, 123 Church Street in Almedia of Bloomsburg.
Funeral Services will also be held on Friday, May 7 at 11 a.m. following the time of visitation at the church, with his pastor, Rev. Dr. Douglas H. Lyon officiating. Graveside services will be private at a later date. The immediate family will provide flowers.
