M. Mahlon Eckroth, age 90, of Bloomsburg, passed away with the love of his life by his side at home, on Saturday, July 29, 2023. Mahlon was a resident of his home in Bloomsburg for over 57 years.

He was born on Tuesday, September 20, 1932 in Bloomsburg, a son of the late John Wilbur and Elma M. (Smith) Eckroth. He graduated from the former Scott Township High School in 1950. He faithfully served in the United States Army during the Korean War and was honorably discharged on December 11, 1954. On April 28, 1956, he married his loving wife, the former Marie L. Acor.

He was employed by Kennedy Van Saun, Danville as a Draftsman, and later worked for the Press Enterprise, Bloomsburg until his retirement. He was a very active member of the Good Shepherd United Methodist Church, Bloomsburg where he served as Sexton and a Lay Leader. He enjoyed singing in his church choir and with the Columbia Montour Barbershoppers. He was a Bloomsburg Fair member who worked in the agriculture building for 60 years. He enjoyed spending his time being active in recreational sports especially, tennis and swimming. His greatest accomplishments were his church and family. He loved spending time with his family.

In addition to his parents, Mahlon was also preceded in death by two brothers: Alvin C. Eckroth and Myron P. "Ecky" Eckroth.

Survivors include his beloved wife of 67 years, Marie L. Eckroth, four children: David M. Eckroth of Berwick, Cindy M. Eckroth of Bloomsburg, Bonnie E. Adams of Bloomsburg, Andria E. Houston of Mooresville, NC, four grandchildren; Autumn M. Trieu and husband James Roop of Greenbrier, TN, Andrew J. Adams of Catawissa, Kylie L. Houston of Mooresville, NC, Kara M. Houston of Mooresville, NC.

A time of Visitation for family and friends will be held on Thursday, August 3, 2023 from 10:00 am to 11:00 am at the Allen Funeral Home, Inc. 745 Market at Eighth Street, Bloomsburg.

Funeral Services will begin on Thursday, August 3, 2023 at 11:00 am at the Allen Funeral Home, Inc. with Rev. Margaret M. McCarty, officiating. Graveside committal services will immediately follow in the Elan Memorial Park, Bloomsburg. Military honors will be provided by the combined VFW and American Legion Honor Guard. The Allen Funeral Home, Inc., is honored to be serving the Eckroth family.
