Obituary

Luella May Snyder, 86, of Bloomsburg, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, October 21, 2026, at Emmauel Nursing and Rehabilitation, Danville.

Born in Lewisburg on December 16, 1939, to the late Malcolm and Olga (Heatwole) Shuman, Luella grew up in McEwensville before moving and graduating from Watsontown High School in 1953. Luella’s kind and nurturing nature led her to attend nursing school in Bellefonte, where she would begin her career as a Licensed Practical Nurse. She spent many years as an LPN at Muncy Valley Hospital before continuing her career at, and eventually retiring from, Bloomsburg Hospital.

On June 10, 1961, Luella wed the love of her life, Robert Snyder, with whom she would create a beautiful life with. Luella adored her family and would spend much of her time creating photo albums and scrapbooks to share with them. She also enjoyed the peaceful moments in her life; sitting on her porch swing, and arranging flowers from her garden. Luella dedicated her life to caring and comforting others, and will be remembered by those that knew and loved her for her empathy and generous spirit.

Surviving Luella are her beloved husband of 65 years, Robert; her children: Amber Mausteller and husband, Gary, of Danville, and Aaron Snyder and wife, Kathryn, of Lewisburg; two grandchildren: Aiden Snyder, and Madeline Cleary and husband, Pat; two great-grandchildren: Hazel, and Layne; her sister, Loretta Merrill; and her nephew, Jeffrey and his wife, Kelly.

All are welcome to join Luella’s family for her viewing from 12:30 to 2:00 PM Tuesday, October 27, 2026, at Allen Funeral Home, 745 Market St., Bloomsburg. Luella’s funeral service will begin at 2:00 PM with Geisinger Hospice Chaplain Alan Langelli, officiating. Interment at Milton Cemetery will immediately follow. The Allen Funeral Home, Inc. is honored to serve the Snyder family.
