Loren E. Girton, age 84, of Bloomsburg died on Tuesday afternoon, April 21, 2015 at the home of his daughter in Catawissa and under the care of VNA Hospice.
Loren was born on Saturday, June 28, 1930 in Bloomsburg, a son of the late Lloyd and Lenna (Black) Girton. Throughout his younger years, Loren attended the Bloomsburg area schools and later graduated from the Bloomsburg High School in 1948. On December 22, 1967, Loren married the former, Edith "Eadie" Nuss of Bloomsburg. Throughout much of his life, Loren was employed by the Magee Carpet Company as a welder for over 25 years. Most recently, he was employed by the former Laughbach's Auto Parts in the machine shop until his retirement in 1994. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. He loved spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was also a very avid motorcycle rider and love spending time outdoors gardening, mowing, fixing things and talking to his neighbors. His family will always remember his extreme love and excitement of attending the Bloomsburg Fair for many years.
In addition to his parents, Loren was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 47 years, Edith "Eadie" Girton, who passed on December 2, 2014. He was also preceded by a son, Gregory A. Girton on March 26, 2003.
Survivors include his daughter: Cheryl Blass and companion, Wayne LeVan, of Catawissa; three sons: Steven Girton and wife, Deborah, of Carlisle; Dan Beyer and wife, Deborah, of Bloomsburg; and Larry Beyer and wife, Deborah, of Youngstown, OH; ten grandchildren and sixteen great-grandchildren; and also a sister-in-law: Joyce McBride of Bloomsburg.
A time of Visitation for family and friends will be held on Thursday evening, April 23 from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Allen Funeral Home, Inc., 745 Market at Eighth Street, Bloomsburg.
Funeral services will begin on Friday morning, April 24 at 10 a.m. also from the Allen Funeral Home, Inc., 745 Market at Eighth Street, in Bloomsburg with Chaplain Christian Dunlap of Geisinger-Columbia Montour Home Hospice, officiating. Graveside committal services will immediately follow in Lime Ridge.
Memorial contributions in Loren's name are suggested to a hospice organization of the donor's choice.
