Obituary

Lloyd M. Martin, age 87, of Bloomsburg, died on Friday morning, July 31, 2015 a resident of the Orangeville Health and Rehabilitation Center in Orangeville.
Lloyd was born on Friday, June 1, 1928 in Norristown, Pennsylvania, a son of the late Lloyd M. and Susan (Gable), Martin, Sr. Throughout his younger years, he attended the Norristown schools, and later graduated from the Catawissa High School in 1946. Immediately following his education, Lloyd enlisted in with the United States Air Force where he serving his country faithfully during World War II. After returning home, Lloyd met and married his loving wife and best friend, the former Grace M. Krum of Shamokin, on April 14, 1941.
For over 37 years, Lloyd was employed by the former Merck & Co. in Riverside until his retirement in 1988. Making their home in Bloomsburg since 1969, Lloyd loved spending time with his friends and family. He loved playing the piano, and shared his talent continually while a resident in the Orangeville Health Center. He was also a member of the Valley of Bloomsburg American Legion Post #273. But most of all, he was the proud to be a grand and great-grandfather to such wonderful children.
In addition to his parents, Lloyd was also preceded in death by his beloved wife of 62 years, Grace M. (Krum) Martin, who passed on December 20, 2013. Lloyd was also preceded in death by two brothers: Paul and David Martin; and one sister: Christine Roeder.
Surviving are his three daughters: Nancy Nizzardini, and husband Robert, of Largo, FL; Kathy Martin Kreisher and husband, Paul, of Bloomsburg; and Brenda Martin of Carlisle; four grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren; and one sister: Faith Whitmire of Mifflinville.
A Graveside committal service will be held on Saturday morning, August 8 at 10: 30 a.m. in the New Rosemont Cemetery, Espy with his son-in-law, Paul Kreisher, Lay Speaker of the Buckhorn United Methodist Church, officiating. The Allen Funeral Home, Inc., 745 Market at Eighth Street in Bloomsburg is honored to be serving the Martin family.
